South Deep Gold Mine is providing a chance for individuals who aspire to work for the company and eligible members of their Host Communities to apply for enrollment in a Fitter Engineering Learnership. This program offers a combination of theoretical and practical training conducted in a work-based environment, aiming to equip learners with the necessary skills and qualifications to excel in this highly sought-after field.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science
- Be in possession of a N3 qualification with Mechano-Technology trade theory and 3 additional subjects such as Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science and Engineering Drawing
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment
Engineering Learnership:
- Fitter (Including Machining)
Key responsibilities include:
- Abide by all health and safety rules / regulations applicable on the mine
- Undergoing technical training as prescribed by the MQA and short courses as required by the mine during the Learnership
- Maintain consistent performance as per scheduled technical evaluation cycles
- Take personal accountability for driving own career development and initiating developmental discussions
- Actively engage with HRD and technical oversight team to obtain feed-back
- Adhere to the company`s conditions of employment, policies and code of conduct
- Promoting teamwork and being an effective team member
- Wearing all prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE) while on mine/ and training center
- Abide by the values of Gold Fields, South Deep Mine
