Artisan Production Grade A: Mechanical (X7 Posts)

Overview

Inspect, diagnose, service, maintain, repair and test vehicles, plant and equipment in accordance with prescribed standards and schedules. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance and provide breakdown and field support where required.

Requirements

• , as well as applications received late, will not be considered
• The Department does not accept applications via fax
• Failure to submit all the requested documents will result in the Application not being considered during the selection process
• All succ essful candidates will be expected to enter into an employment contract and a performance agreement within 3 months of appointment, as well as be required to undergo a security clearance three (3) months after appointments
• All shortlisted candidates, incl uding the SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments
• One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, service, maintain, repair and test vehicles, plant and equipment in accordance with prescribed standards and schedules
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance and provide breakdown and field support where required
• Ensure qualit y of completed work
• maintain job cards, maintenance records and registers
• compile relevant reports and provide inputs into operational planning
• Ensure the safe use of tools and equipment and compliance with applicable technical and safety requirements
• Supervise and mentor support personnel where required and maintain technical expertise through continuous development
