Nursing Assistant Grade 1
Overview
Provide elementary clinical nursing practice in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards Assist patients with activities of daily living (physical care). Provision of quality nursing care through the implementation of standards, policies and procedures, ensure effective utilization of resources.
Requirements
- Senior Certificate/Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
- Nursing Assistant certificate that allows registration with South African Nursing Council
- Current registration with South African Nursing Council (2026 SANC receipt) Knowledge, Skills, Training and Competencies Required: Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures, nursing statutes, and other relevant legal framework such as: Nursing Act, Health Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Patient Right Charter, Batho Pele Principles, Public Service Regulations, Labour Relations Act, Disciplinary Code and Procedure, Grievance Procedure
- Elementary communication skills
- Elementary writing skills
- Ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Good interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of scope of practice of Enrolled Nursing Assistant
- Ability to perform structured task under direct and indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse
- Empathy, sensitivity and drive for excellence
- Knowledge of SANC rules and regulations
- Knowledge of code of conduct for the Public Service
Responsibilities
