Overview
The Production Engineer Grade A will manage and evaluate engineering drawings and designs submitted for waste management license applications, ensuring compliance with national standards. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and three years of relevant experience, along with a valid ECSA registration. Successful candidates will be involved in various engineering evaluations, approvals, and research related to waste materials and climate change studies. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant qualification as recognised by SAQA, plus three (3) years’ post qualification experience in hydraulic, environmental engineering and geotechnical engineering
- Compulsory registration with ECSA as a professional Engineering
- Knowledge and exper ience in water use, waste management, water resource infrastructure design and mining facilities design, operation and reviews procedures
- Knowledge of Waste Classification and Management Regulations
- Knowledge of National Norms and Standards for the Asses sment of Waste for Landfill Disposal
- Knowledge of Norms and Standard for Disposal of Waste to Landfill
- Must understand the policy and legislative framework governing pollution and waste management
- Sound analytical and research skills
- Ability to manage and plan for activities, including projects and policy matters
- Knowledge of National Waste Management Strategy
- Ability to develop, interpret and apply polices, strategies and legislation
- Good interpersonal relations skills, Stakeholder engagement, Strat egic Capability and Leadership skills
- Knowledge of relevant engineering standards
- The incumbent must be able to work independently and efficiently under pressure as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
- A valid Driver’s license and willingness to travel
Responsibilities
- Manage and evaluate engineering drawings and designs submitted for new waste management license applications, variations and sections 24G waste management applications
- Screen, review and approve design reports and drawings for new waste license applications, variation, 24G applications and registration in terms National Norms and Standards established in terms of Waste Act
- Manage approval process for construction quality assurance and construction completion reports of waste facilities being licensed
- Scr een, review and approve construction quality assurance and construction completion report
- Manage approval of alternative material to geosynthetic materials for the purpose of beneficial use in terms of exclusion regulations
- Manage and develop case management system to support the Directorate in managing Engineering drawings and designs
- Provide technical and research support
- Conduct research of alternative waste material which will perform equivalent to geosynthetic material
- Develop guidelines for engineering designs and drawings to ensure that relevant engineering standards are met
- Develop guidelines for climate change studies in relation to waste activities
