Prepare for this opportunity

SpanSam guidance · Practical advice based on this listing, not additional employer requirements.

Match your background to the requirements

Compare the qualification named in the requirements with your completed studies. Use the exact qualification title and completion date in your CV. If your studies are still in progress, say so clearly. Check the source before assuming that a different qualification will be accepted.

Check the type and length of experience requested. Make relevant roles easy to find with consistent start and end dates, then explain your own responsibilities. Label internships, practical training and volunteering accurately so the recruiter can distinguish them from other employment.

Check any licence or professional registration mentioned in the requirements, including its category and validity. Confirm the wording against your own documents. Do not assume that a pending application or a different licence category meets the advertised condition.

Use the duties to tailor your CV

For Social Work Policy Developer: Children, Families & Vulnerable Groups, use the responsibilities above to decide which examples deserve space in your application. Choose a relevant task or project, explain what you personally did and describe the outcome. Use a measurable result where you have one, without inventing figures or sharing confidential information.

You do not need to repeat the whole advert in your CV. Help the reader connect your evidence to the advertised work. If you have not performed a duty before, describe relevant learning or transferable experience honestly rather than presenting it as a task you have already done.

Plan your submission

The application link opens a source document. Locate this exact vacancy in the document and read its submission instructions. The document may describe an online, email, postal or hand-delivery route. Opening the PDF is not an application. Use the vacancy reference and destination specified for this post.

For this government opportunity, follow the specific department’s instructions on forms, references and supporting documents. Do not assume that another department’s application process applies to this post.

Application checklist

SpanSam application guidance — these tips supplement the original advert; they are not additional employer requirements.

For Social Work Policy Developer: Children, Families & Vulnerable Groups at DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT, compare your qualifications and experience with each requirement in the original listing. Identify the examples from your work, studies or volunteering that demonstrate your suitability. State your actual responsibilities and achievements clearly; do not add skills or experience you cannot support.

Check the submission instructions

Use the application route in How to apply below and confirm that the vacancy is still open on the original source. Check the closing date, location, reference number and any requested document format before submitting. If a detail is missing here, consult the employer’s advert rather than assuming it is optional.

Prepare the documents requested

Keep your CV contact details current and tailor your profile to this opportunity. Include supporting documents only as requested by the employer. For government vacancies, check whether the advert requires a Z83 form, which version to use and when supporting documents must be submitted. Follow that specific advert’s instructions.

Check the opportunity-specific conditions

Read the department’s instructions for this specific post carefully. Different public-service adverts can use different submission routes and supporting-document stages. Keep the official post reference separate from any circular or page number. Where the advert provides an enquiries contact, use it to clarify an application instruction you do not understand; do not assume that the enquiries address is also the application destination. Keep your answers consistent with your CV.

CV advice

Explain how your experience fits

Read the responsibilities alongside the requirements before editing your CV. For each relevant skill, choose a concrete example that explains what you did, the setting in which you did it and the result. Use dates and qualification names consistently across your CV and application form. If you are applying for an early-career opportunity, relevant projects, practical training and volunteering can help explain your experience, but should be labelled honestly rather than presented as paid employment.

Keep the strongest relevant information easy to find. A short professional profile, clear section headings and readable bullet points help a recruiter locate your education, skills and experience. Avoid copying every phrase from the advert into your CV. Use the employer’s terminology only where it accurately describes your background. Do not include identity documents or private financial information in a public CV unless the verified application process specifically requests them through a suitable channel.

Review before you submit

Open your final attachments to check that the files are readable, the correct versions are included and your contact details are accurate. Where an application portal is used, check for a confirmation screen or email rather than assuming an upload completed successfully. If the advert requests a reference number in an email subject or application form, copy it exactly from the official advert. Submit through the stated route; sharing a CV in a social-media comment is not a substitute for applying.

Keep a record and protect your information

Save a copy of the advert and your submission confirmation. Use Mark as applied to track this opportunity in My Jobs. Verify the destination before sharing personal documents, and investigate requests for payment or sensitive financial information. SpanSam does not decide applications or guarantee interviews.
