Overview
RCL Foods is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Research and Development Intern to join their team. This role, based in Pretoria West, will provide in-depth experience in product development, laboratory comprehension, and knowledge of factory and lab equipment within the beverages sector. The intern will work under the guidance of the Research and Development Manager.
Requirements
- Matric/Grade 12
- In the process of completing a Food Technology/Food Science qualification
- Workplace exposure required
- S4/completed theory of Food Science or Food Technology
- Lab experience is an added advantage
- An average of 65-70% is required
- Knowledge of food safety and quality management
- Knowledge of general R&D principles
- Understanding of national food legislation (GMP, HACCP, R146 compliance requirements)
- Computer literacy in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Responsibilities
- Assist seniors in organizing factory and lab trials
- Run lab trials and factory trials
- Assist in product brief execution according to project scope requirements
- Assist in coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, including pre-trial meetings
- Collect and record data from trials
- Optimize product quality
- Plan and execute experiments and summarize results
- Support/lead project teams as a technical resource
- Assist in scoping and facilitating business opportunities
- Implement consumer tests in collaboration with the consumer tasting panel
- Manage deliverables to achieve R&D timelines
- Create and manage product specifications
- Create and manage ingredient specifications
- Maintain technical documentation
