Overview
The Compliance Officer in the Enterprise Risk and Compliance Department at Shoprite Group plays a vital role in developing and implementing compliance frameworks and policies. Requirements
- LLB or B Com Law degree, or related field
- Two to four years experience as a compliance officer or similar role
- Strong understanding of applicable laws and regulations within the industry
- Exposure to governance, compliance, and risk practices
- Understanding and exposure to creating and managing compliance-related knowledge assets
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
Responsibilities
- Conduct compliance reviews and monitoring activities to assess adherence to legislative, regulatory, and internal policy requirements
- Identify compliance gaps, control weaknesses, and areas of non-compliance
- Maintain compliance monitoring records and document findings
- Escalate identified compliance risks and recommend corrective actions
- Track remediation plans to ensure compliance issues are appropriately addressed
- Support the execution of compliance risk assessments across business areas
- Analyse compliance-related risks and evaluate potential business impacts
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments relevant to the organization
- Contribute to the development, review, and maintenance of compliance policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines
