Overview
The Department of Local Government, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to co-ordinate and oversee the capacitating of district and local municipalities with regard to functionality in respect of Disaster Management.
Requirements
- An appropriate 3 year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Disaster Management or relevant field
- A minimum of 3 years middle management experience
Responsibilities
- Assist with the coordination and facilitation of the institutionalisation disaster management in the province
- Establish the functioning of IGR Disaster Management structures in the province, including workgroups
- Co-ordinate special events in the province
- Develop disaster management (DM) legislation and frameworks
- Collate, compile and submit Disaster Management Annual Report
- Perform disaster response team leader function while on standby and during disaster activation
- Responsible for Monitoring and Evaluation and related reporting
- People and Financial Management
- Plan and manage the work of and account for the overall performance of the Sub-directorate
- Develop and support capacity building initiatives
