RCL Foods, a leading food production company, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Diesel Mechanic Assistant to join their team. Summary of Responsibilities:
- Assist in running repairs of vehicles: Support the Diesel Mechanics in performing maintenance and repairs on our fleet of vehicles.
- Attend to on-road breakdowns: Respond promptly and efficiently to vehicle breakdowns, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to operations.
- Change wheels/tyres: Assist in the safe and efficient replacement of wheels/tyres on vehicles as needed.
- Brake maintenance: Participate in the changing, bleeding, and adjustment of brakes to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Electrical repairs: Support the Diesel Mechanics in conducting general electrical repairs on vehicles, including troubleshooting and component replacement.
- Small body repairs and welding: Assist with minor body repairs and welding tasks as required.
Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for the position of Diesel Mechanic Assistant, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Tertiary Qualification: Preference will be given to candidates with a recognized Tertiary Qualification, especially in the auto-electrical or mechanical field.
- Working experience: Must have prior working experience in running repairs of vehicles, including attending to on-road breakdowns and performing various mechanical tasks.
- Basic mechanical skills: Familiarity with changing wheels/tyres, brakes, starters, alternators, water pumps, V belts, and general electrical repairs.
- Small body repairs and welding: Ability to conduct minor body repairs and basic welding tasks.
- Attention to detail: Demonstrate a meticulous approach to work and an ability to perform tasks with accuracy and precision.
