Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies’ Irene Link store is seeking a Dispensary Support to join their team. This role focuses on employing learners who will undertake the basic pharmacist assistant course, designed to provide foundational knowledge for the pharmaceutical environment and dispensing while fostering quality on-the-job learning.
Requirements
- Grade 12 – Matric or Senior Certificate with Pure Mathematics 50%, Life Science and/or Physical Science with an average of at least 50%
- Completed a proficiency test for registration with the Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a learner basic assistant
Responsibilities
- Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances under the supervision of a pharmacist
- Help with the compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicines according to approved formulas and Standard Operating Procedures
- Assist in unpacking and merchandising stock, and cleaning dispensary and OTC shelves as approved by the responsible pharmacist
- Learn to accurately interpret scripts and act professionally within legal requirements
- Ensure accurate picking, packing, labeling, and checking of medication
- Monitor medication expiration dates and maintain the cleanliness and organization of shelves
- Follow up with patients regarding script tracking and appointments
- Assist with call center scripts and patient service inquiries
- Provide health information to individuals
- Assist with scheme authorization of chronic, HIV, AIDS, and oncology medication
- Report low or out of stock levels and stock errors to the dispensary manager
- Receive dispensary stock according to company SOP
