Overview

An industry-leading consulting engineering firm is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join its Cape Town office. This permanent opportunity is ideal for a motivated engineer with a strong background in building services consulting, delivering electrical designs for commercial, retail, residential, and mixed-use developments. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical building services projects while working closely with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Requirements

  • BSc or BEng in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 6 years' experience in electrical engineering within a consulting or building services environment
  • Proven experience on commercial, retail, residential, and mixed-use development projects
  • Strong understanding of South African electrical standards, including SANS 10142 and related regulations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Valid driver's license
  • Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa will be advantageous but is not essential

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical building services systems for commercial, residential, retail, and mixed-use developments
  • Prepare electrical designs in accordance with client requirements and relevant SANS standards
  • Coordinate electrical services with multidisciplinary project teams
  • Prepare technical specifications, engineering reports, and design documentation
  • Estimate electrical loads and bulk supply requirements for new developments
  • Liaise with municipal authorities and utility providers regarding electrical connections and infrastructure
  • Prepare tender documentation and evaluate contractor submissions
  • Procure electrical equipment, including lighting, generators, UPS systems, and associated infrastructure
  • Monitor project costs and assist with budgeting and cost control
  • Conduct site inspections and provide construction support throughout project execution
  • Ensure projects are delivered within programme, budget, and quality requirements
