Join Shoprite as a Facilities Co-Ordinator in Centurion, Gauteng, where you will expertly manage contractor activities, monitor maintenance schedules, and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards within a dynamic distribution centre environment. This full-time role requires proven experience in facilities management, contractor coordination, budget control, and equipment maintenance, with a strong focus on material handling equipment (MHE) and safe workplace enforcement.
Requirements
- Proven experience in facilities management or coordination, preferably within a distribution centre or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and compliance standards relevant to facilities management.
- Ability to manage and coordinate contractor activities efficiently, including scheduling, performance monitoring, and compliance enforcement.
- Good understanding of maintenance procedures for equipment and material handling equipment (MHE).
- Experience in budget control and expenditure management related to maintenance and facilities activities.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, including proficiency in maintaining maintenance records and spreadsheets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with contractors, staff, and finance departments.
- Relevant educational background, such as a diploma or certificate in facilities management, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant working environment, with attention to enforcing PPE regulations and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Manage contractors and schedule workloads.
- Monitor contractor performance on minor repair work.
- Keep monthly maintenance spreadsheets updated.
- Conduct disciplinary discussions when necessary, according to Shoprite procedures.
- Ensure contractors comply with OHS regulations.
- Control expenditure and manage the day-to-day maintenance of the allocated site.
- Report and follow up on repair work.
- Sign job cards on completion of work.
- Minimize downtime on equipment or MHE to improve productivity.
- Manage MHE abuse and cost recovery, schedule monthly MHE meetings.
- Handle invoice queries and act as the contact person between contractors and the Finance Department regarding payment.
- Ensure staff adhere to PPE regulations (cleaning & maintenance staff).
- Manage and monitor equipment according to company standards.
- Maintain a safe working environment.
