The Department of Defence is seeking 20 dedicated and skilled individuals to join their team as Groundsmen(Gardeners). As a Groundsman, you will play a vital role in maintaining the grounds and outdoor spaces of our facilities. This is an opportunity to contribute to the overall functionality and appearance of our premises, ensuring a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment for our personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining grounds: Perform routine maintenance tasks to upkeep the grounds, including mowing lawns, trimming hedges, and pruning trees and shrubs.
  • Operating equipment: Ability to operate various equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and other groundskeeping machinery.
  • Landscaping: Assist in landscaping projects, including planting and maintaining flowerbeds, installing irrigation systems, and maintaining pathways.
  • Waste management: Ensure proper disposal of waste and debris from the grounds.
  • General maintenance: Assist with general maintenance tasks as assigned, including painting, repairing fences, and maintaining equipment.

Requirements:

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • ABET 1-4 (Grade 3-9) or equivalent: Possess a basic education qualification.
  • Special requirements (skills needed): The applicant must be able to operate equipment used in grounds maintenance.
  • Physical fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Attention to detail: Meticulousness in maintaining and caring for the grounds to achieve a high standard of cleanliness and attractiveness.
  • Team player: Willingness to collaborate with other team members and follow instructions.
