Overview
The Junior Analyst in the Advocacy Division will support the Commission in investigating and resolving competition cases through advocacy. The role involves providing policy and legislative responses and analysis, requiring adaptability, inquisitiveness, and relational skills. The successful candidate will gain exposure to competition law and economics, contributing to the Commission's objectives.
Requirements
- A completed NQF Level 8 qualification or equivalent in Economics, Law or Social Sciences.
- A Masters Degree in Economics, Law or Social Sciences will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a competition, public policy, or legislative environment.
- Experience in competition law and economics an added advantage.
- Ability to conduct research and undertake complex investigations within multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in information gathering and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting investigations regarding possible contraventions of the Act and relevant advocacy activities.
- Assist in conducting research and policy analysis of the regulatory landscape and make recommendations.
- Assist in conducting advocacy research and investigations to support the Commission’s objectives.
- Act as a representative of the Commission within the framework of the Competition Act when communicating with business, consumers, employer/employee representatives and other government agencies.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Commission’s Strategic Plan, Annual Performance Plan and the Division’s Business Plan.
- Contribute to the efficient administration of the Division through compliance of protocols, procedures and systems, including knowledge management.
