MAINTENANCE STOREMAN

Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient receiving, storage, control, and issuing of maintenance inventory, spare parts, consumables, and materials to support maintenance and production activities. The role requires maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring stock availability, supporting stocktaking activities, and upholding health, safety, and housekeeping standards within the storeroom.
Requirements
- Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
- Accreditation in a relevant trade or profession will be advantageous
- Basic computer literacy
- Willingness and ability to work shifts when required
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and stock control principles
- Understanding of warehouse and storeroom operations
- Knowledge of inventory systems and stock transaction processes
- Understanding of health and safety requirements related to material handling and storage
- Knowledge of stocktaking, stock rotation, and inventory accuracy practices
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in stock handling and record keeping
- Good organisational and inventory control skills
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintaining stock accuracy
- Ability to follow procedures, work instructions, and safety standards
Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and verify all deliveries against purchase orders, delivery notes, and other supporting documentation
- Ensure all materials received are in good condition and meet quality requirements
- Accurately record and capture incoming stock transactions in the inventory management system
- Maintain orderly and clearly identified storage areas to ensure easy accessibility and stock control
- Assist with stock counts, cycle counts, and annual stocktaking activities
- Issue materials and spare parts to maintenance and production personnel against approved requests
- Verify authorization before releasing stock items
- Prepare materials for collection, delivery, or distribution as required
- Ensure all inventory is stored and handled in compliance with company policies and health and safety standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free storeroom environment
- Report stock discrepancies, damaged items, and variances promptly to the Store Supervisor
