Network Engineer III
Overview
The purpose of the Senior Network Engineer is to support the monitoring, maintenance and resolution of network services within the organisation. This role monitors network availability, logs and updates incidents, supports first-line troubleshooting and escalates complex or recurring issues to senior engineers where required.
Requirements
- An IT qualification such as computer networking, electronics, information systems or a related field - (desirable)
- Foundational network certification such as Cisco CCNA or equivalent - (desirable)
- +3 years experience in network support, IT operations, service desk, field support or a similar technical infrastructure environment - (essential)
- Practical exposure to LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, network cabling, VoIP and related network technologies - (essential)
- Experience using ticketing, monitoring or IT service management tools to log, track and update incidents - (essential)
- Basic exposure to network monitoring tools such as CA Spectrum, NFA, Performance Centre, Velocloud Orchestrator, Remedy Helix or similar tools - (desirable)
Responsibilities
- Monitor network equipment, links and services using approved monitoring tools and escalate alerts or recurring issues to senior engineers where required
- Support the investigation of network and voice incidents by gathering information, checking device status and performing first-line troubleshooting steps
- Log monitoring information, incident details and operational updates accurately to support resolution and reporting
- Provide technical support for assigned network incidents in line with support procedures, service level expectations and escalation guidelines
- Capture, update and close incident records accurately, including actions taken, troubleshooting steps and resolution details
- Assist vendors and internal teams with installations, maintenance activities, upgrades and incident investigations
- Support standard network changes by preparing information, updating records and completing assigned implementation or validation tasks
- Maintain accurate network documentation, site information and operational checklists
