Operations Manager - Transrite Basson Park
Overview
We are seeking a Transport Operations Manager to lead and optimise daily transport activities within our dynamic retail supply chain, specialising in vehicle fleet management, route planning, and logistics coordination for Distribution Centres and Freshmark operations. This senior role demands expertise in transport management systems, compliance with operational safety standards, and staff leadership to enhance fleet utilisation and drive continuous process improvements.
Requirements
- Grade 12
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics/ Supply Chain Management would be an advantage
- Min of 3 yrs experience in Operations at management level in a similar operation
- Good all round computer literacy, particularly a thorough working knowledge of Excel
- Good interpersonal skills at management and staff level
Responsibilities
- Manage drivers, shift managers and debriefing personnel
- Prepare daily performance reports
- Monitor daily and weekly registers – Toll cards, attendance, breakdowns, fines, wash bay, pre and post trip inspection sheets
- Handle disciplinary action and grievances
- Follow up on daily handover book - problems and queries from drivers and stores
- Compile weekly feedback reports from debriefing manager on driver performance – fuel, co-driver and accidents
- Compile weekly feedback reports from operations shift managers – vehicle utilisation, service level to DC and FM, meal allowance schedules and follow up on whether vehicles for service were booked off
- Manage daily delivery schedule/plan to achieve high service levels to both DC and FM
- Perform any other operational tasks that influence the efficiency of the Transrite operation
