Outbound Process Manager
Overview
The Outbound Process Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing the operational planning of the Distribution Centre's outbound department. This role involves formulating action plans, assisting the Operational Management team, and making crucial daily decisions to ensure efficient distribution operations.
Requirements
- Advanced Certificate in Supply Chain management / Logistics / General Management / Project Management - NQF level 6 equivalent
- 2 - 3 years’ experience in middle management role, managing flow of stock within a warehousing environment
- Demand Planning experience in the retail environment will be advantageous
- Experience in communicating with senior leadership
Responsibilities
- Compile daily operational plan to balance DC capacity and deal with peak periods
- Supervises the capturing and displaying of operations department’s daily productivity and quality targets
- Determines priorities for each department per shift based on the operational plan
- Addresses critical issues and makes recommendations when the plan is not achievable
- Manage and coordinate monthly new store distributions
- Formulate manning requirements for special work activities linked to value-added services
- Manage and coordinate seasonal and BTS re-pricing waves
- Create management reports for senior management's operational decisions
- Communicates daily with all DC internal departments and central planning teams
- Complies with health and safety requirements
- Facilitates teamwork and motivates workforce
- Execute daily operational plan to balance DC capacity through all departments
- Supervises capturing and displaying of operations department’s daily productivity and quality targets
- Manage planning for optimised daily waving for Put to Store, Cluster and Full Carton distribution
- Communicate daily with internal departments on operational progress and recommend actions
- Manage all queries on WMS through relevant systems and IT stakeholders
- Scheduling and planning of product flow in the DC environment
- Forecast model to reduce transport costs
- Ensure lead times and picking/dispatch standards are met
- Prioritize special/urgent orders
- Manage CPU on packaging and labour according to budget
- Analyse trends and make recommendations to increase efficiencies in the DC
