Overview
The Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant will be responsible for medication control and managing patients' prescriptions for Faircape’s healthcare facilities, under the supervision of the Responsible Pharmacist. This is a hands-on clinical role requiring strong attention to detail, adherence to regulatory standards, and the ability to work independently within strict deadlines.
Requirements
- Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Clear health record
- Clear criminal record and clear credit record
- Written references
Responsibilities
- Interpreting and preparing prescriptions
- Repackaging and distributing medication
- Ordering medicine and scheduled substances as instructed by the Responsible Pharmacist
- Preparing, labelling, and dispensing medication in compliance with pharmacist-reviewed prescriptions
- Managing and monitoring ward stock and emergency trolley supplies
- Conducting weekly and monthly stock takes, reconciling actual versus system stock, and reporting discrepancies to the Responsible Pharmacist
- Processing medication and consumables billing for sub-acute patients via Clinic Manager
- Submitting medical aid claims through Propharm when required
