QA Engineer II
Overview
The QA Engineer II is responsible for identifying complex Epics and features to be performance tested in collaboration with the Solutions Architect, Test Lead, and QA Engineer Lead. This role identifies and eliminates defects in a product by gathering requirements from clients, customers, or end-users to develop comprehensive non-functional testing scripts, ensuring systems under test perform in production according to non-functional requirements.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Information Systems, B.Sc. Computer Science, or similar (essential)
- ISTQB Agile (essential)
- ISTQB Advanced Level (essential)
- At least 4 years of experience in manual testing (essential)
- At least 4 years of experience in automation scripting (essential)
- At least 4 years of SQL experience (essential)
- At least 4 years of experience with GUI/API automation or performance solutions using different tools (essential)
- At least 4 years of testing in an Agile environment (essential)
- Testing experience in the retail or financial sector (highly desired)
- Knowledge of functional testing, system testing, integration testing, regression testing, automation scripting, and execution
- Knowledge of non-functional testing, including performance, security, and usability testing
- Knowledge of systems testing and integration testing
Responsibilities
- Test script generation and review
- Identify and document key test scenarios and integrate them into the test plan
- Guide the process used to document or automate the test script with the performance testing tool
- Determine the prerequisites and test criteria during test plan development
- Identify the required test materials and establish an environment suitable for test execution
- Prepare a test results pack for results recording, submission, approval, and sign-off
- Maintenance of performance test scripts, ensuring high quality and accuracy
- Plan the written test case or specification, or execute automated scripts and test suites
- Develop the test results plan compilation to ensure accuracy and debug complex script failures
- Define reporting criteria and processes to ensure quality and accuracy
- Assess the application under test and ensure it meets the expectations defined by the business
- Assist in defining the quality assurance criteria and ensure all applicable testing activities meet them
- Guide QA Engineer I on the test documentation to be used, and maintain documentation to reflect current system operations and continuous improvement opportunities
- Participate in the development and improvement of testing processes and initiatives
- Conduct regular maintenance and upkeep of automated scripts for complex testing activities
- Check and monitor the quality of own work, and support and advise Junior QA Engineers on the quality of their work
- Support the identification of performance gaps and provide coaching to Junior QA Engineers where assigned
- Provide specialist input to the technical development plan
- Ensure effective communication within the team and with key stakeholders on assigned projects
- Ensure test completion for all complex projects
- Handover relevant artefacts
- Provide input to the Team Lead for retrospectives and lessons learned
- Archive test work products
