DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND WELLNESS
Overview
Provide maintenance, repair, and installation services for buildings, civil infrastructure, and related equipment under the control of the Building and Civil Engineering Division. Inspect, diagnose, and rectify faults within the scope of the relevant trade.
Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate Trade Test Certificate in Building and Civil Trade (e.g
- Bricklaying or Tilling or Drywalling)
- Experience: Grade A: No experience required
- Grade B : At least 18 years appropriate/recognizable experience in the area after obtaining the relevant Trade Test Certificate
- Grade C: At least 34 years appropriate/recognizable experience in the area after obtaining the relevant Trade Test Certificate
- Inherent requirements of the job: A valid vehicle driver’s license
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Sound knowledge of maintenance and repair of buildings and related infrastructure
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and maintenance requirements
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications
- A bility to compile basic specifications, reports, and maintenance records
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to plan, prioritise, and coordinate maintenance projects
- Knowledge in Building and Civil maintenance environment
Responsibilities
- Provide maintenance, repair, and installation services for buildings, civil infrastructure, and related equipment under the control of the Building and Civil Engineering Division
- Inspect, diagnose, and rectify faults within the scope of the relevant trade
- Assist with planning and execution of building maintenance projects and minor capital works
- Manage and monitor contractors and service providers to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements
- Liaise with Engineering management, hospital departments, contractors, and suppliers regarding maintenance activities
- Evaluate, investigate, and advise on the suitability, maintenance requirements, repair costs, and replacement of infrastructure and equipment
- Complete and maintain job cards, maintenance records, reports, and other administrative documentation
- Assist with the control of workshop tools, materials, consumables, and stock
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and depar tmental policies
