Overview
The Control Engineering Technician (Mechanical) will be responsible for monitoring and controlling the implementation of the maintenance policy, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment, promoting safety regulations, and ensuring the optimal performance and timely maintenance of the vehicle fleet and other related equipment. The candidate must possess strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work individually and within a team. Requirements
- National Diploma (NQF6) in Engineering or relevant qualification as recognized by SAQA
- Compulsory registration with ECSA as an Engineering Technician
- 6 years’ post qualification experience
- Knowledge of Mechanical Installations and principles, HR practices and procedures, financial management, project management, and personnel management
- Sound organizing and planning skills, good communication skills, and ability to operate a computer
Responsibilities
- Monitor and control the implementation of the maintenance policy
- Troubleshoot and repair problems on mechanical equipment and facilities
- Promote safety in line with statutory and regulatory requirements
- Implement standard operating procedures for consistent operations of infrastructure
- Monitor and control the quality assurance of technical designs and make recommendations
- Plan and coordinate relief voyages and handle relevant documentation
- Monitor compliance of lifting and handling equipment and maintain the vehicle fleet
