Overview

Perform general activities in respect of crop production: Irrigation of crops. Soil cultivation and preparation (cleaning and hoeing).

Requirements

  • Abet level 2 certificate or equivalent
  • Competencies: Knowledge and understanding of the following: Farm infrastructure construction and maintenance
  • General maintenance of infrastructure
  • General Farmwork
  • Working with farm animals and pastures
  • Working w ith heavy draft horses
  • Skills in the following: Communication (verbal)
  • Numeracy
  • Literacy
  • Driving
  • Operating equipment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Perform general activities in respect of crop production: Irrigation of crops
  • Soil cultivation and preparation (cleaning and hoeing)
  • Perform general activities in respect of livestock: Care for sick livestock, Dipping, vaccination and dosing
  • Perform general activities: Cleaning of facilities
  • disposal of farm waste material
  • Perform general activities in respect of infrastructure: Maintain and build roads, fences, pipelines, canals, dams, drinking troughs, animal housing and buildings
  • Maintain windmills and water supply system
