Requirements

  • The ideal candidate must, at a minimum, be in possession of a recogni sed Diploma in GISc, Cartography or relevant qualification as recogni sed by SAQA coupled with 6-year post qualification Technical (GISc) experience, compulsory registration with SAGC as a GISc Technician and a valid driver’s licence

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will have the following key responsibilities: - Manage, supervise and perform technical GISc activities
  • Maintain GIS unit Effectiveness
  • People management
  • Functional Requirement analysis and Research
  • The candidate will be responsible for coordinating and implementing KZN COGTA's geospatial programmes and services by managing enterprise GIS platforms, maintaining the Integrated Land Information System (ILIS), developing and supporting geospatial dashboards, coordinating the georef erencing of strategic provincial projects, and providing spatial intelligence to support government planning and decision -making
  • The role supports key initiatives such as the District Development Model (DDM), Municipal Local Economic Development (MLED), D isaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change adaptation, municipal infrastructure and service delivery projects, while also providing GIS support to municipalities through training, advisory services, data management and capacity -building
  • In addition, the position conducts spatial analysis, produces maps and analytical reports, supports disaster management and resilience planning, coordinates stakeholder engagements and GIS projects, and drives the adoption of innovative geospatial technologies to improve governance, monitoring, reporting and service delivery across the province
