Overview
Provision of basic nursing care by assisting patients with activities of daily living (physical care). Ensure implementation of basic nursing care plans and effective communication.
Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: Qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nursing Assistant
- Registration with a professional council: Registration with SANC as Nursing Assistant
- Experience: Grade 1: None
- Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years’ appropriate / recognisable nursing experience after registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant
- Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years’ appropriate / recognisable nursing experience after registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant
- Inherent requirements of the job: Willingness to work shifts, public holidays, after -hours, night duty and weekends
- Must be prepared to assist in all departments according to operational needs
- Willingness to work overtime when necessary
- Ability to work under pressure
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Computer literacy (MS Office and Outlook)
- Basic Nursing Care principles and pr ocedures
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies of the Department of Health Western Cape
- Skills to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, function within the multi -disciplinary team and facilitate on the level of the post
Responsibilities

- Effective utilisation of resources
- Promotion of QA, IPC AND OHS within the department
- Maintain professional practice and ethical conduct and self -development
