Overview
Provide directions and supervision for the implementation of the nursing plan, ensuring quality patient care and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements
- Senior Certificate (Grade 12) plus Diploma/Degree in General Nursing that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- Current registration with the SANC (2026).
- Grade 1: None experience required.
- Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
- Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
- Knowledge of nursing care processes, nursing statutes, and relevant legal frameworks.
- Good communication skills; report writing skills; planning and organizing; computer literacy.
Responsibilities
- Implement standards, practices, criteria, and indicators for quality nursing.
- Maintain a constructive working relationship with nursing and other stakeholders.
- Utilise human, material, and physical resources efficiently and effectively.
- Assist with relief duties of the supervisor and act as a shift leader when necessary.
- Promote and advocate proper treatment and care for patients.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure effective nursing care.
- Overall supervision of the ward when necessary.
