Overview
RCL Foods is seeking a talented and operational individual to join their team as an Assistant Accountant (Manufacturing) within their Bakery operating unit in Benoni. The role involves providing essential financial information to support economic decision-making, preparing financial reports on the business unit’s performance for external parties, and assisting in driving internal controls.
Requirements
- BCom / BCom Hons Degree or equivalent preferably in Accounting/SAICA/SAIPA
- Valid Driver’s Licence
- Computer literate with intermediate experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Experience in an FMCG environment will be advantageous
- 3 years relevant experience in a similar role
Responsibilities
- Completes Month-end management accounts accurately and timeously
- Prepares General Ledger journal entries with supporting documents and submits for approval
- Compiles month-end start to finish and working papers
- Processes all closing stock figures and reconciles stock variances
- Balances stock monthly and reconciles loan accounts
- Assists Financial Accountant with month-end detailed reports
- Analyzes monthly COS per GL and compares to Weekly Trading Report
- Investigates expense variance against BP, Forecast, and Previous month
- Maintains Provisions & Accruals account
- Maintains Discounts & Rebates provision account
- Assists with all financial-related queries
- Reports to the Financial Accountant and Commercial Finance Manager on all financial accounts
- Creates reports when required for all financial transactions relating to the business unit
- Compiles weekly reports and cashflow forecasts
- Ensures all stock managed items are balanced
- Monitors stock levels for printed stationery and re-orders
