THE Pretoria Hotel is seeking a dedicated and skilled Chef who is committed to delivering exceptional dining experiences. The successful candidate will prepare and present meals for the hotel’s restaurant, room service, conferences, banquets, weddings, and special events while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present a variety of dishes according to hotel recipes and quality standards.
- Ensure food is consistently prepared to the highest standards of taste, quality, and presentation.
- Prepare meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner services, room service, conferences and corporate events, banquets and weddings, and special functions.
- Assist the Executive Chef with menu planning and seasonal menu development.
- Ensure meals are prepared and served efficiently during busy service periods.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient workstation.
- Follow the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) stock rotation system.
- Monitor stock levels and report items that need replenishment.
- Minimise food waste through effective stock control and portion management.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance issues when necessary.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP food safety standards.
- Maintain clean food preparation and storage areas.
- Store and handle food correctly to prevent contamination and maintain freshness.
- Work closely with the Executive Chef and kitchen team.
- Assist in training junior chefs and kitchen assistants where required.
- Support colleagues during busy service periods and special events.
- Communicate effectively with restaurant and front staff.
