Overview
The Setswana FAL Teacher position is available at Curro Mahikeng. The successful candidate will teach and coordinate subjects under the Curro curriculum, support learners through focused and integrated teaching, and work within Curro’s Foundation Phase curriculum.
Requirements
- A BEd and/or PGCE in Foundation Phase Education
- An honours degree will be advantageous
- At least two years’ Foundation Phase teaching experience
- Knowledge of the CAPS curriculum
- Strong facilitation and problem-solving skills
- Proven report-writing abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organisational and planning abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- SACE registration
- A clear criminal record
- Willingness to work extended hours when required
Responsibilities
- Planning lessons using modern teaching tools and processes
- Setting up workbooks and tracking academic improvement
- Measuring learner achievement throughout the academic year
- Reviewing and adjusting term plans when necessary
- Creating customised plans based on class pace
- Making provision for revision and parent meetings
- Managing classroom design and setup
- Maintaining appropriate disciplinary procedures
- Communicating effectively with learners and parents
- Managing assessments and assessment reviews
- Preparing revision packs and supporting assessment moderation
- Implementing learner interventions when required
- Planning and managing homework for the relevant grade
- Monitoring reading levels and learner progress
- Planning extramural activities and school outings
