Overview

The Food Service Assistant is to assist with the preparation of and the serving of all meals and beverages to customers, ensuring great customer service always. It is the responsibility of a food service assistant to ensure that the kitchen and service areas are clean and tidy, assisting with waste removal and washing up.

Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Strong customer service orientation with a commitment to service excellence.
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in food preparation, food service, or a similar hospitality environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions and procedures.
  • Basic stock control and inventory management awareness.
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude when interacting with customers and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present high-quality meals, fast foods, snacks, and sandwiches in accordance with Tsebo standards and client requirements.
  • Maintain exceptional food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness standards in line with company policies and statutory regulations.
  • Support stock control processes, including stock counts, stock rotation, and minimizing wastage.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and build positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Ensure all customers are greeted warmly and assisted in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner.
  • Consistently provide service excellence in line with Tsebo's customer experience standards.
  • Prepare food items efficiently while maintaining quality, consistency, and presentation standards.
  • Adhere to loss prevention and stock management procedures to safeguard company assets.
  • Comply with Tsebo policies, procedures, and workplace standards of conduct at all times.
  • Undertake additional duties within the scope of the role as reasonably required by management.
