Junior Field Services Technician
Overview
The Junior Field Services Technician is an entry-level operational role supporting the stability and availability of IT systems and devices across Dis-Chem stores, distribution centres, and offices. The role focuses on building foundational field-based IT support capability while providing supervised, hands-on support for end-user devices, POS equipment, store networks, peripherals, and basic infrastructure components.
Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12)
- IT-related diploma or certificate advantageous
- 1–2 years’ experience in IT support, service desk, or field services roles
- Exposure to retail, multi-site, or customer-facing environments advantageous
- Basic knowledge of PCs, POS devices, printers, and peripherals beneficial
Responsibilities
- Provide first- and second-line on-site IT support under supervision
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving issues related to POS devices, end-user equipment, printers, scanners, and store peripherals
- Support basic store network and connectivity checks (under guidance)
- Assist with device installations, swaps, break/fix activities, and new store or refurbishment support
- Perform basic validation and testing of devices and systems after fixes or installations
- Follow defined checklists and procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality outcomes
- Adhere to IT operations standards, security policies, and access controls
- Maintain accurate documentation, job notes, and asset updates (ITAM/CMDB)
