Junior Technical Assistant (Solar PV) - Renewable Energy Industry

RPO Recruitment is seeking a Junior Technical Assistant (Solar PV) to join a well-established renewable energy company located in Johannesburg. This entry-level role is perfect for candidates eager to grow within the renewable energy sector, where they will support various engineering tasks related to Solar PV systems.
Requirements
- Studying towards an Electrical Engineering qualification or relevant Solar PV qualification (e.g. Solar Green Card) or equivalent industry training
- Experience using OpenSolar, PVsyst and/or HelioScope
- Good understanding of Solar PV system design, technical costing and Bills of Quantities
- Ability to interpret PV designs and convert them into accurate BoQs
- Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
- Own reliable vehicle and a valid driver's licence
- Relevant Solar PV certificates, training and achievements will be advantageous
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Passionate about renewable energy and eager to develop technically
- Strong work ethic with excellent organisational and communication skills
- Comfortable working primarily from the office, with occasional travel to project sites
Responsibilities
- Prepare high-level Bills of Quantities from Solar PV designs using standard templates
- Interpret design outputs and ensure accurate quantities for costing purposes
- Review designs for accuracy and escalate technical discrepancies where required
- Liaise with internal teams to obtain outstanding design or site information
- Support the Business Development team by preparing costing-ready documentation
- Assist with site inspections and site surveys when required
