Mechanical HVAC (Building Services) Consulting Engineer
Overview
The Mechanical HVAC (Building Services) Consulting Engineer will join the Cape Town office to assist with the design, specification, project management, and delivery of mechanical building services systems. This role is ideal for a graduate or early-career mechanical engineer eager to work in the building services consulting industry across a range of projects including commercial, healthcare, retail, hospitality, and public infrastructure.
Requirements
- BEng Mechanical Engineering
- BSc Mechanical Engineering
- BTech Mechanical Engineering
- 0–3 years' experience, preferably within a consulting engineering environment
- Strong interest in Building Services Engineering
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning and design of mechanical building services systems
- Design HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) systems
- Assist with the design of Fire Protection and Wet Services systems
- Conduct mechanical services audits and site assessments
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, and reports
- Assist with cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documentation
- Support project management throughout all project phases
- Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during construction
- Ensure designs comply with relevant South African standards and project specifications
