As a Senior Fire Engineer at a well-established multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm, you will lead and grow the fire engineering department, managing a team of four engineers while delivering rational fire engineering solutions for a diverse portfolio of projects, including hospitals and commercial buildings. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with South African fire engineering standards and fostering strong client relationships.
Requirements
- ECSA Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration (non-negotiable)
- Extensive experience in rational fire design within the building services consulting industry
- Proven experience delivering large-scale commercial, healthcare, institutional, or mixed-use building projects
- Strong understanding of South African fire engineering legislation, codes, and standards
- Willingness to be based in Century City, Cape Town, or relocate (relocation assistance is available)
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the fire engineering department, providing technical guidance and mentorship to a team of four engineers
- Deliver rational fire engineering designs for a wide range of building services projects
- Take ownership of project delivery from concept through construction and completion
- Ensure compliance with South African fire engineering standards, regulations, and best practices
- Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Attend client meetings and communicate effectively with stakeholders, including Afrikaans-speaking clients where required
- Review and approve technical documentation, reports, and fire engineering calculations
- Support business growth by maintaining strong client relationships and identifying new opportunities
- Drive continuous improvement within the fire engineering department
