Overview
The Senior SecOps Engineer is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and management of advanced cloud security solutions across enterprise AWS environments. This role involves guiding best practices in cloud security, incident response, and vulnerability management while also mentoring junior engineers and driving improvements in security operations.
Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience in cloud security, SecOps, or a related cybersecurity engineering role.
- Expert-level knowledge of AWS services and security capabilities, including IAM, Security Hub, GuardDuty, Config, CloudTrail, KMS, EC2 security controls, SSM, and Control Tower.
- Strong experience designing and implementing complex cloud security architectures.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
- Deep understanding of security and compliance frameworks including GDPR, CIS, NIST, and PCI.
- Strong troubleshooting and incident management capabilities for critical operational incidents.
- Experience with SIEM management, threat hunting, and vulnerability management tools such as Tenable or Nessus.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and VPC networking.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
- Experience with third-party cloud security services such as Cloudflare.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching abilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and management of secure and scalable AWS security solutions for enterprise clients.
- Provide expert-level consulting and guidance on AWS security best practices, standards, and compliance frameworks.
- Manage and support AWS security services including IAM, Security Hub, GuardDuty, Config, Trusted Advisor, Athena, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, KMS, and Control Tower.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and incident response for critical and complex security incidents.
- Handle technical escalations and provide mentorship to junior and intermediate SecOps engineers.
- Conduct in-depth security assessments to identify vulnerabilities, weaknesses, and remediation opportunities.
- Manage SIEM platforms and contribute to ongoing platform development and optimisation.
- Configure and maintain a broad range of security tools across multiple cloud environments.
- Support threat hunting, vulnerability management, and proactive monitoring activities.
- Deploy and maintain remote security monitoring solutions according to security best practices.
- Review and update security processes, standards, and operational documentation.
- Participate in customer meetings, reporting engagements, and consulting activities.
- Create training material and facilitate technical knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Contribute to security-focused product development and operational improvement initiatives.
