Storeperson (B&I)
Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Storekeeper to join our Business & Industry (B&I) Catering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective receipt, storage, control, and distribution of stock to support seamless catering operations and service excellence within a corporate environment.
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a Storekeeper, Stock Controller, or Stores-related role within catering, hospitality, retail, or food service environments
- Sound knowledge of stock control principles and inventory management
- Experience working with food and consumable stock
- Computer literacy, including MS Office and stock management systems
- Good numerical and administrative skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Physically fit and capable of handling stock movements where required
Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and verify goods delivered against purchase orders and delivery notes
- Ensure accurate storage of food, beverage, cleaning, and operational supplies
- Maintain stock control systems and ensure inventory records are updated accurately
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts and reconcile variances
- Issue stock to kitchen and service teams as required
- Monitor stock levels and communicate replenishment requirements timeously
- Apply FIFO (First-In, First-Out) stock rotation practices
- Ensure storerooms, fridges, and freezers are maintained in a clean, orderly, and food-safe condition
- Assist with ordering, stock forecasting, and cost control initiatives
- Adhere to company policies, food safety standards, and health and safety regulations
