Overview
The Swim Manager at Virgin Active South Africa is responsible for overseeing a comprehensive swim program, ensuring it offers extraordinary experiences for members of all ages. This role involves the continual development and marketing of swim lessons while managing administrative duties such as revenue and budget oversight. A key focus is on leading and managing a team of swim instructors, ensuring compliance with training and safety standards while promoting exceptional service and brand representation.
Responsibilities
- Daily management of a comprehensive swim programme including group and individual swim lesson outlines for adults and children.
- Continual development of the Swim programme and planning of additional programming requirements.
- Conduct regular marketing and promotion activities of the swim offering to members.
- Management of administrative duties such as revenue and budget management, including reporting.
- Direct people management responsibilities for swim instructors, including recruitment processes against VASA values.
- Ensure staff compliance with training requirements and adherence to emergency procedures.
- Provide leadership and management to the swim team, maintaining high standards of service and safety.
- Carry out regular 1:1 meetings and documented performance conversations with team members.
- Contribute to weekly Head of Department meetings and ensure effective communication within the swim team.
- Ensure compliance with Virgin Active brand standards and uniform policy.
- Develop and implement a monthly programme timetable of lessons, ensuring they are approved and published.
- Maintain attendance of scheduled lessons and adjust programmes according to member needs.
- Address and respond to member and instructor concerns and feedback regarding lessons and environment.
- Follow up on complaints within 24 hours and keep management updated with reports on issues.
