Overview
The Junior Network Artisan will support the installation, maintenance and testing of network infrastructure, including physical network equipment, cabling and connectivity. The role involves assisting with IT infrastructure projects and providing technical support.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or NQF Level 4
- One to two years of relevant work experience
- Basic knowledge of hand tools
- Basic knowledge of electrical hand power tools
- Ability to use ladders safely
- Basic knowledge of PVC pipes
- Basic knowledge of cable basket wireways
- Basic knowledge of premises wiring
- Medical fitness for the role
Responsibilities
- Install and maintain physical network infrastructure, including network points for computers and telephone devices
- Inspect, clean and repair relevant equipment
- Install network cabling according to approved designs, including copper, fibre optic and wireless connections
- Assist with new IT network infrastructure projects and implement network solutions under guidance
- Provide physical network support across Tharisa Minerals’ operations
- Identify potential hazards during network installation and maintenance and report safety concerns
- Update sections of the network asset database
- Communicate with relevant departments about network-related matters
