Overview

The MMEG Bursaries 2027 application process is now open for female students in South Africa. The bursary supports women from developing countries who wish to continue their studies and contribute to their communities. The Margaret McNamara Education Grants programme offers financial support of up to US$7,000 (about R126,000) for various levels of education, including certificates, undergraduate, postgraduate, and postdoctoral studies, at approved universities in South Africa.

Requirements

  • Be a South African citizen or from an approved eligible country
  • Identify as female
  • Be at least 25 years old before the closing date
  • Be studying at an accredited South African university
  • Be enrolled for in-person studies
  • Plan to remain enrolled after receiving the grant
  • Plan to graduate within three years after receiving the bursary
  • Foreign students must also have a valid study permit or visa for South Africa
  • Applicants may not be related to staff members or retirees from the International Monetary Fund, World Bank Group, Inter-American Development Bank, or MMEG Board members
  • You will need a South African ID document or passport
  • Study permit or visa, if applicable
  • Passport photo page for dual citizens
  • Official proof of university enrollment
