Registry/Reception Clerk
Overview
The Registry/Reception Clerk will be responsible for providing administrative support services within the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport. Duties include attending to clients, handling inquiries, managing mail and files, and ensuring proper registry functions. Candidates must possess competency in registry duties, data capturing, and communication skills. Requirements
- Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification)
- Knowledge of registry duties and practices
- Ability to capture data and operate a computer
- Understanding of the legislative framework governing the Public Service
- Knowledge of storage and retrieval procedures in terms of the working environment
Responsibilities
- Attend to clients and handle telephonic and other inquiries
- Receive and register hand-delivered mail/files
- Sort, register, and dispatch mail
- Distribute notices on registry issues
- Open and close files according to record classification system
- Filing/storage, tracing (electronically/manually), and retrieval of documents and files
- Complete index cards for all files
- Maintain franking machine register and frank post
- Record money and update register daily
