Beamline Senior Instrumentation Researcher: Internal/External (3-year fixed term contract)

Overview
The primary purpose of this job is to independently plan, implement and conduct research to develop, integrate, expand and maintain specialised research instruments and associated facility infrastructure in niche scientific applications that utilise neutron beam line facilities at research reactors.
Requirements
- A minimum of a B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering is required; an M.Eng will be considered an added advantage.
- Minimum 5 – 7 years’ experience in a relevant specialised engineering field of which 1 – 2 years in scientific project coordination.
Responsibilities
- Capture research and development work in written format and publish in the relevant field.
- Report research results orally at colloquia and national conferences.
- Provide training to colleagues and students.
- Contribute to publications as primary author of peer-reviewed works.
- Execute research and development tasks with no supervision.
- Create know-how or process development of commercial and/or strategic value.
- Support the establishment of strategic partnerships with industry and scientific bodies.
- Participate in Business Process Management systems.
- Assist in resolving audit findings and improvement actions.
- Support achievement of budget goals and develop project budgets.
