Internal Sales Manager
Overview
An established industrial equipment business is seeking an experienced Internal Sales Manager to manage and improve the full sales process, from receiving customer enquiries and preparing quotations to processing orders and coordinating handovers to operations. This is a hands-on, office-based role suited to someone with a strong technical and commercial background in industrial equipment, pumps, process plant or water treatment.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of experience in internal sales, estimating or a quotation-focused role within industrial capital equipment, pumps, process plant or water treatment.
- National Diploma or N6 in Mechanical, Process or Industrial disciplines, or demonstrably equivalent experience in a technical quoting environment.
- Ability to read and interpret general arrangement drawings, P&IDs and equipment datasheets.
- Strong commercial and numerical skills, including costing, margins, landed costs, price escalation and payment terms.
- Advanced spreadsheet skills and practical experience using CRM systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage incoming requests for quotations (RFQs), ensuring enquiries are recorded and qualified within 24 hours.
- Develop and maintain the quoting system, price lists and pricing structures.
- Prepare quotations for standard equipment and progressively handle more complex requirements.
- Obtain and consolidate supplier pricing, lead times, freight costs and landed costs.
- Convert accepted quotations into works orders and coordinate handovers to Operations and Projects.
- Maintain sales reporting, including weekly pipeline reports, monthly commercial reports and quarterly review information.
- Monitor relevant tender platforms and supplier portals to identify and qualify business opportunities.
- Prepare written summaries of opportunities and direct them to the appropriate team members.
- Maintain vendor registrations and prequalification documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve quoting processes, CRM systems and internal sales procedures.
