Legal Intern
Overview
The purpose of the Legal Intern role is to provide practical, hands-on experience within the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) function. The intern will support the team in conducting independent and objective evaluations of business operations, gathering and analysing supporting evidence, and assisting with various legal, governance and compliance activities.
Requirements
- Must be a South African Citizen
- Must have a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
- Must have completed a relevant tertiary qualification at a public institution
- Relevant LLB qualification from a recognised public tertiary institution, including a 3-year postgraduate LLB or 4-year undergraduate LLB
- Must have a clear criminal record
- Must have a clear ITC record
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 35
- Must NOT currently be employed or participating in another internship or learnership programme
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) function, with a focus on Legal and Compliance
- Assist with the development, review and documentation of policies, procedures and GRC activities
- Review legal and business documents and provide relevant insights to the GRC team
- Conduct legislative and regulatory research and assist with drafting findings for GRC reports
- Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation
- Update and monitor the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) Register
- Assist with monitoring the Contract Management System
- Attend GRC meetings and prepare accurate meeting minutes
- Assist with editing and formatting legal, compliance and business documents
- Support the Legal and Compliance team with other GRC-related activities as required
