Overview
RPO Recruitment’s client, a reputable civil engineering contractor in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Asphalt Surfacing Foreman to oversee asphalt paving and road construction activities on site for a period of 24 months.
Requirements
- 10+ years’ experience in asphalt surfacing and road construction
- Matric Certificate or Higher qualification
- Solid practical knowledge of asphalt paving, compaction, levels, joints and finishing
- Proven experience supervising asphalt surfacing crews
- Good understanding of road construction methods and processes
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical specifications
- Knowledge of quality control and site safety requirements
- Experience coordinating operators, subcontractors and labour teams
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving abilities
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily asphalt paving and surfacing activities
- Lead paving crews and coordinate operators, labour and subcontractors
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, quality standards and project programmes
- Monitor paving operations, rolling and compaction, including temperatures, joints and final finishes
- Coordinate the efficient use of plant, equipment and materials
- Monitor daily production and ensure targets are achieved
- Conduct quality and workmanship checks throughout the paving process
- Maintain high standards of health, safety and housekeeping on site
- Identify and resolve site-related challenges in consultation with the Site Agent, engineers and management
- Assist with daily planning, progress monitoring and site reporting
