Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Relevant Food Preparation or Culinary Qualification will be advantageous
- 2–3 years' experience in a similar role within catering, hospitality, healthcare, or food service environments
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible shifts when required
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and portion standards
- Assist with food preparation, ingredient preparation, and meal service
- Ensure food is presented attractively and served on time
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, food safety, and cleanliness
- Assist with stock control, stock rotation, and minimizing food wastage
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and company policies and procedures
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas
- Assist with costing, portion control, and reducing food waste
- Support the Chef and kitchen team in daily operations
- Ensure all food products are stored correctly and safely
- Step in to manage the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef or Sous Chef
