Diesel Mechanic

Exxaro Resources is looking for a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our Rehab Maintenance team based in Durnacol, KwaZulu-Natal. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing passenger and heavy vehicles, as well as primary and secondary equipment, to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Grade 12/Standard 10
- Technical qualification (N2 Relevant Trade Subjects)
- Certified Trade Qualification as a Diesel Mechanic (MQA/QCTO)
- 2-3 years relevant experience in fitting, servicing, maintenance, and overhauling of passenger and heavy vehicles, as well as primary and secondary equipment
- Psychometric Assessment
- Certificate of Fitness
- Competence in Core MQA Modules Assessments
- Competence in On the Job MQA Modules Assessments
- Pub Driv Lic: Code B (Recommended)
- Pub Driv Lic: Code C (Recommended)
- Pub Driv Lic: Code EC (Recommended)
- Pub Driv Lic: Code EC1 (Recommended)
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, servicing, and repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and auto electrical systems of passenger and heavy vehicles, as well as primary and secondary equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections of tools, equipment, vehicles, and machinery to identify defects or malfunctions.
- Attend to vehicle and equipment breakdowns immediately.
- Manage administration tasks including the timely renewal of licenses and maintaining accurate monthly license renewal registers.
- Re-condition specific components and spares for installation.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Fill in job cards daily and submit to foreman.
- Transfer knowledge and provide mentorship to Artisan Aides and trainees.
- Take responsibility for the quality of maintenance and new installations.
- Demonstrate flexibility, innovation, and a results-oriented approach.
