Diesel Mechanic
Overview
Exxaro Resources is looking for a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our Rehab Maintenance team in Tshikondeni, Limpopo. This permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to work with mechanical, hydraulic, and auto electrical systems on passenger vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, and primary and secondary mining equipment. You will play a vital role in ensuring operational efficiency by conducting inspections, quickly addressing breakdowns, managing license renewals, and accurately maintaining inventory records.
Requirements
- Grade 12/Standard 10
- Technical qualification (N2 Relevant Trade Subjects)
- Certified Trade Qualification as a Diesel Mechanic (MQA/QCTO)
- 2-3 years relevant experience in fitting, servicing, maintenance, and overhauling of passenger and heavy vehicles, as well as primary and secondary equipment
- Psychometric Assessment
- Certificate of Fitness
- Competence in Core MQA Modules Assessments
- Competence in On the Job MQA Modules Assessments
- Pub Driv Lic: Code B (Recommended)
- Pub Driv Lic: Code C (Recommended)
- Pub Driv Lic: Code EC (Recommended)
- Pub Driv Lic: Code EC1 (Recommended)
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, servicing, and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and auto electrical systems on passenger vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, and mining equipment.
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles, machinery, and equipment to identify defects.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Manage the timely renewal of licenses and maintain accurate records and registers related to vehicle licenses and inventory.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental protocols.
- Plan, order, and manage spare parts and materials.
- Fill in job cards daily and submit reports to the foreman.
- Transfer knowledge by mentoring and guiding Artisan Aides and trainees.
- Take responsibility for the quality of maintenance work and new installations.
- Demonstrate behavioural attributes including creativity, collaboration, accountability, safety consciousness, agility, flexibility, and an inclusive approach.
