To perform planned, preventative, and breakdown mechanical maintenance on plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production operations, while supporting equipment availability, asset care, and compliance with safety and food standards.
Requirements
- Qualified Artisan (Fitter) with Trade Test - Essential
- NQF Level 4 Grade 12 or Matric Equivalent Certificates or N (C) V Level 4 - Essential
Responsibilities
- Perform planned, preventative, and corrective mechanical maintenance in line with schedules and job cards.
- Diagnose mechanical faults, carry out repairs, and restore equipment to safe operating condition.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Conduct mechanical assembly, installation, alignment, and commissioning of equipment and components.
- Execute preventative maintenance tasks aligned with asset care and reliability strategies.
- Identify recurring faults and participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Comply with all safety, health, environmental, and food safety policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Accurately complete job cards, inspection reports, and maintenance records.
- Use tools, equipment, and spares responsibly and correctly.
- Act as first responder for mechanical emergencies and support contingency planning.
- Collaborate with fellow artisans, operators, and supervisors to achieve production targets.
