Overview
The purpose of this position is to plan and conduct audits of gaming and gambling activities at licensed premises and betting agencies, in accordance with the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Act, Act 4 of 1996, its regulations, applicable legislation, policies, procedures and approved audit protocols.
Requirements
- A National Diploma or degree (NQF Level 6/7) in fields such as Auditing, Accounting, Finance, Forensic Accounting, Risk Management, or Commerce.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ financial or regulatory auditing experience in either an internal or external auditing environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing clear and comprehensive reports.
- A valid Code B driver’s licence.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Ability to engage effectively with people at all levels within the organisation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Fluency in English.
- Computer literate.
- High integrity and willingness to undergo periodic external probity investigations.
- Prepared to travel as needed and have reliable transport.
- Knowledge and experience of database integrity checks (added advantage).
Responsibilities
- Conducting risk-based tax and compliance audits at the premises of various license holders.
- Developing and maintaining risk matrix, information flow charts, audit programmes and procedures.
- Ensuring appropriateness of all applicable gambling and betting legislation and operators’ internal control standards.
- Keeping abreast with new auditing techniques and developments within the gambling and betting industry.
- Making recommendations for the improvement and development of licensed operators’ operational and financial procedures.
- Scheduling review of licence holders' tax returns and financial reports, and compiling relevant schedules.
- Preparing internal and external reports relating to the financial aspect of the licence holder.
- Reviewing and investigating complaints or disputes related to this area of responsibility.
- Creating mutual co-operation and a supportive environment through open communication.
