Overview
Exxaro Resources is seeking a dynamic Group Manager, Safety to lead strategic safety governance, occupational hygiene, and operational risk management across various business units in Centurion, Gauteng. The role requires the development and implementation of enterprise-wide safety frameworks that ensure compliance with statutory regulations. As a key advisor to executive management, you will foster a proactive safety culture and drive continuous improvement through innovative solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (Hons) in a relevant field
- Management Development Programme
- Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in senior safety leadership, ideally within mining or similarly high-risk environments
- Strong knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Proven experience in operational risk management and integrated Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) management systems aligned with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards
- Proven capability in occupational hygiene governance
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with regulators and various stakeholders
- Proven leadership and people management skills
- Psychometric Assessment
- Certificate of Fitness
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership in safety governance and management
- Develop and implement enterprise-wide safety governance frameworks, standards, and policies
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations such as the Mine Health and Safety Act
- Conduct operational risk management and critical control management
- Engage with regulators, organised labour, and industry bodies
- Mentor and develop high-performing teams
